Services
The
first three services – Consulting, Incubating, and Networking - are
rendered to selected organizations in an intensive, months-long
process. We firmly believe that ILID needs to work in the field through
these three services; however we realize that these are limited in
scope and scale. Hence we have the second set of three services –
Training, Research and Teaching – to help us scale up our services to a
much larger sector-wide participation.
Client Consulting
We provide comprehensive consulting services to the nonprofit community
to develop, strengthen, and grow their organizations through the
adoption and application of ILID-developed methodologies in conformance
with global best practices.
As an institute that helps build
institutions, we adapt the successful processes and models from the
corporate sector to the world of nonprofit organizations and help build
strong social entrepreneurship organizations. We hope to accomplish
this goal by developing the leadership potential that aims at processes
for long term progress. Throughout each engagement, we work closely
with
our client’s staff, leadership and board to ensure broad consensus and
a clear plan for moving from analysis to action, and from action to
results.
We offer “VISTAR” (Vision-Strategies-Structure-Action Plans-Review) to
help create an overall diagnostic, planning, and execution blueprint
and to maintain a sustained effort to achieve optimum results. We work
with clients through the execution phase, helping to review project
management practices and evaluating the results.
ILID is planning to create a “Centre for Visual Arts for Social
Change”, which will produce documentaries and short films to highlight
challenges and solutions, enhance awareness, and spur action for
development.
The Centre of Visual Arts for Social Change will have
several main purposes:
- to advance
the study of visual methodologies, (video documentary,
radio documentary, digital technology) within social action research;
- to promote a production approach to media education
not only in the
context of student & teacher development but also within
community outreach involving children, youth, community workers, local
leaders/opinion makers, etc;
- to ensure appropriate training opportunities for
staff, researchers
and students who wish to incorporate visual methodologies into their
research.
ILID will soon create a “Centre for Financial Inclusion” to assist
other entrepreneurial organizations and service providers to evaluate
their programs and explore new strategies and opportunities to build
capacity and improve conditions for the poor and underprivileged. Other
activities planned under this will include consulting and training for
capacity building of MFIs and others.
Incubation
Incubation is the process that accelerates the successful development
of startups and existing social organizations by providing
entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources.
We identify socially
innovative opportunities for progressive change, evaluate the ideas and
the social innovators creating those ideas, and build organizations to
sustain and scale up to the intended target. We thus assume, when
needed, the role of the creator of social change in the incubation
projects.
Since 2005, we have incubated three projects – CHIP (Child Health
Improvement Program) ; Pygamlion; Ekalavya. We are now actively working
on creating a new project ‘Rural BPO’.
Networking
As a generic strategy underlying all other services, we seek out
networking, partnering, and brokering opportunities with like-minded
individuals, NGOs, funding organizations, Universities, and other
institutions to create and foster relationships that are mutually
beneficial and lasting.
We have brought together organizations working in similar areas,
connected deserving organizations to potential financial supporters,
encouraged partnerships, and shared learning. Not only do our clients
benefit from our networking activities, it has also resulted in a
growing list of clients seeking our advice.
Research
The paucity of time and resources, and the exigencies of daily
operations often prevent NGOs from engaging in meaningful research. We
hope to fill this gap by conducting independent research and by
collaborating on existing research that would help our clients excel.
ILID is exploring to launch a full-fledged “Centre for Research in
Socio-Economic Development”, including the publication of a “Journal
for Development”.
Training
We view professional training as key to long term success of an NGO. We
conduct workshops and seminars in leadership for social entrepreneur
organizations on a regular basis.
Training, specifically targeted to the nonprofit sector, has not been a
priority for the training community at large. Therefore, it is our
priority to develop and deliver world class training to our existing
and potential clients.
ILID is planning to launch a series of training workshops in core areas
under a theme – Resource Management – mobilization, maximization and
management, on topics like HR & Volunteer mgmt; Finance and
Project mgmt.

Teaching
We intend to create a teaching institute that provides certified and
accredited courses in Social Entrepreneurship. We believe that there is
a dire need to produce fresh graduates and mid-level Development
executives who are professionally educated in the Sciences and Arts of
Social entrepreneurship.
This is an idea whose time may have come. Many
worthy leaders and organizations are attempting to provide this
education. We hope to be in the forefront of this creative field,
welcoming any and all collaboration in creating world class
institutions.
